ANGELO GILARDINO
The composer

The important catalogue of Angelo Gilardino's compositions, published for years by the Bèrben editions and in the last period of the Maestro's life by the Curci editions of Milan, includes pieces for solo guitar, pieces for guitar and various chamber ensembles, for guitar and orchestra , didactic works, various transcriptions and orchestrations.
For decades Angelo Gilardino has carried out an enormous work of stimulating the most talented composers of his time to devote themselves to the creation of guitar compositions, which he oversaw the publication in the direct "Collection" for Bèrben. A great work of continuous study and research then allowed Angelo Gilardino to recover important original compositions for guitar from the first half of the twentieth century; from 1997 to 2005 he was artistic director of the Andrès Segovia Foundation in Linares, and in those years he oversaw the revision and publication of numerous compositions dedicated to the great Spanish guitarist.
For Edizioni Curci he has published the biographies of Andrés Segovia and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, the autobiography "Io la Chitarra e altri incontri" (Me, the guitar and other encounters), the volumes "Il Legno che canta" (The wood that sings" and "La chitarra, guida all'ascolto del repertorio chitarristico" (The guitar, a guide to listening to the concert repertoire). In collaboration with Cidim, the Italian National Music Committee and with Diana Castelnuovo-Tedesco, he created theMario Castelnuovo-Tedesco Collection, a relevant editorial project that has led to the publication of several compositions by the Florentine composer. For his editorial commitment he obtained the Award of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella and the Medal of the Chamber of Deputies.
