ANDREA CHERCHI
photographer
Son of a notary and a of social worker, he grows up with a passion for journalism and photographic storytelling that he has cultivated since he was a boy. Married, he is father of Vittoria.
He discovered his love for photography at the age of 10 when he received his first Polaroid for Christmas. It's love at first sight. From that moment on he dedicated himself to finding subjects to immortalize, photographing everything that usually no one photographs with a Polaroid: details of the sky, tree branches, moving trams, empty streets. The passion for photography is overwhelming and, also to save on the costs of instant film, he combines his father's old reflex camera with the Polaroid. From there, he never stops and photography becomes much more than a simple hobby, an art capable of moving.
At the same time, he enrolled at the Scuola Interpreti in via Silvio Pellico in Milan and, after graduating in Linguistic Mediation, began his career as a journalist collaborating with local and national newspapers. She starts out writing articles but quickly realizes that photography is an amazing medium for storytelling and transitions into a career as a photojournalist. In exploring the various means of communication, he landed on TV as anchorman of the local news on Quartarete.
He currently works as a freelance journalist and photographer in Milan and is the owner of the FB page Semplicemente Milano. His photographs have appeared in newspapers such as Corriere della Sera, Corriere Milano, Il Sole24 Ore, Dove Viaggi, Millionaire, Scarp de' Tenis, l'Alpino, il Segno and others (as well as, of course, WikiMilano!) .
Since March 2023 he has been conducting a television broadcast on Telenova dedicated to Milan entitled "Simply Milan".
Creating a website with the focus of narrating the many qualities that Angelo Gilardino has cultivated and protected throughout all his life, building balances and articulations capable of suggesting keys to interpreting the precious emotional watermarks that characterize his music, is a goal that the images of Andrea Cherchi have allowed me to feel closer, thanks to their beauty and what they can evoke.
Andrea Cherchi's personality is such as to involve him with intense rhythms and determined to seek new goals, and his career is brilliant and studded with significant successes.
We are very grateful to him for agreeing to allow the Association to use his splendid images of Vercelli and its territory; the lights and details that he was able to fix in those shots are the same ones that nourished and accompanied Angelo's life, roots that his music retraces and redesigns with a sublimation and a transcendence that can transform those perceptions into a timeless breath, into an infinite vibration.
Thanks Andrea !
